In Rochester, NY, there is a classic and incredible “cure” for the common hangover, The Garbage Plate.
Maybe, you’ve heard of it?
There’s no scientific data nor research that explains this phenomenon, but The Garbage Plate is beloved by many in this community. As with any “cure” for the hangover, it’s a young person’s game of bar hopping, enjoying nightlife to the max and sitting down for a quick bite to eat, before having to roll over, later that same morning and go to work at 6:00 am. I remember those days, all too vividly and I watch those memory reels with baited breath, but alas, I am getting older and burning that candle at both ends, is more and more difficult. Too, as I have grown, I yearn for things that are healthier, nourishing and in line with my dietary needs.
So, I’ve made the Composted Plate. It’s not really a recipe, so much as it is a meal.
Lets get into it.
Composted Plate (A Vegan Garbage Plate)
You’ll need:

- 2 Plant-Based Burgers, cooked to package instructions
- 2 slices Vegan American Cheese, melted a top your Plant-Based Burgers
- Alternatively, you could make this with 2 cooked, Vegan Hotdogs, or a combination of Burger and Hotdog.
- 1/2 cup Hash Browns, cooked per package instructions, you prefer. Mine were baked
- 1/2 cup Classic Vegan, Gluten-Free Macaroni Salad
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup Vegan Hot Ground Sauce
- 2 – 4 Tbsp diced Onion
- Yellow Mustard to taste
- 1 – 2 slices, Vegan White Bread
- 1 – 2 Tbsp Vegan Butter
Put it together!
- On a plate, put Classic Vegan, Gluten-Free Macaroni Salad on half, and the Hash Browns on the other half.
- Next take your cooked, Vegan Cheese Burgers or Hotdogs and put them a top the Hash Browns and Macaroni Salad.
- Now, take a scoop or two of the Vegan Hot Ground Sauce, and pour over everything.
- Add your diced Onion and a good squirt of yellow mustard.
- Butter your bread, and dig in. The more you mix this up, the better it will be.
Enjoy!
