Most store bought taco seasonings are laden with difficult to understand ingredients, artificial dyes and loads of salt. This Salt-Free Homemade Taco Seasoning is simple and will elevate veggies, plant-based grounds or your standard chicken and beef. While I am predominately vegetarian, I do rarely indulge in plant-based meats and conventional meats, though those times are few and far between, for a plethora of reasons. Predominately, I focus my meals on a plant-based whole foods perspective, avoiding as many processed ingredients as possible.
Anyways, lets get on with it!

Salt-Free Homemade Taco Seasoning (makes 1 cup, roughly)
- 3 Tbsp Chili Powder
- 2 Tbsp Smoked Parika
- 1 Tbsp Aleppo Pepper Flakes (or Paprika)
- 2 Tbsp ground Cumin
- 1 Tbsp dried Lime Zest, Lemon Zest or Orange Zest
- 3 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 3 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 2 Tbsp dried Oregano
- 1 Tbsp dried Cilantro
- 1 Tbsp ground Black Pepper
Just mix all ingredients in a bowl. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 year.
To Use:
- 1/4 cup in my Marinated Fajita-Style Veggies recipe
- 3 Tbsp to 1 pound (lb), cooked, plant-based ground, conventional ground meat or chicken
- If you want a saucy taco meat, combine 1/4 cup water and 1 Tbsp Cornstarch into a slurry, add to skillet with taco meat, taco seasoning and continue cooking over medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until thickened.
