Savory Compound Vegan Butter

Now in 2023, there are tons of Vegan Butter options, Hooray!

It is time to elevate those choices, by making something amazing for toast, grilled sandwiches, cooking and anything else you can imagine.

Typically, compound butter is used to finish steaks or added to mashed potatoes, or in seafood dishes, but traditional butter is a huge allergen for many people, my littlest sister and brother-in-law, are both prime examples. Both of these people, that are near and dear to my heart, are catastrophically allergic to dairy, and they are my inspiration for adapting so many common use recipes and making my own Vegan recipes.

Let’s get on with this compound butter.

Compound Vegan Butter

  • 1 stick of Vegan Butter, your favorite is the best to use, at room temperature
  • 2 large, or 3 medium, Garlic Cloves, crushed
  • 1 Tbsp fresh Parsley, minced
    • You could substitute: thyme, rosemary, oregano, dill, mint, chives, etc.
  • Zest of half a large Lemon or Lime, if using mint

Get it together!

  1. Put your vegan butter into a bowl.
  2. Peel and crush our garlic, mince your herb(s) of choice and zest your lemon into the same bowl with the butter.
  3. Mix. If you want to get fancy, you can shape this back into a stick by placing it on parchment paper, gently rolling the butter into a stick form and twisting the ends. I prefer to leave it in the bowl.
  4. Refrigerate.

To Use:

  • make garlic bread
  • softened and spread on your favorite dinner roll, after warming
  • melted and drizzled over dinner rolls before warming
  • put into your mashed potatoes
  • as a finishing butter on mushroom steaks, cauliflower steaks or plant based ground burgers
  • spread on toast or hamburger buns before toasting
  • grilled cheese or any other grilled or pressed sandwich
  • melted over pasta
  • use it to sauté, in place of unflavored oil
  • For any other applications you can imagine
